Cathy’s Wealth of Health: Let’s Talk About the Role of Inflammation in Illness
Inflammation: Causes and Cures
By Cathy McNease, HerbalistOne of the biggest predictors of how well we age is the amount of inflammation present in our bodies. The major killer diseases, such as cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s, as well as the discomforts of gastritis, arthritis, gingivitis, and the many other –itises, all begin with inflammation. When an organ is inflamed, disease follows. Over time that fire in the tissues or cells can become life threatening. Some of the best cures to reduce inflammation are found in colorful fruits and vegetables. The other vital component to fire reduction is to avoid unhealthy fats, denatured grains, refined sugars, and foods heavy laden in artificial flavorings, colorings and preservatives.
In recent years the medical world has awakened to the huge connection between diet and health. One of the measurable factors that your doctor may use to determine disease risks is your level of CRP (C-Reactive Proteins) in the blood. It is now know that this is a more reliable pointer to the possibility of heart disease than merely looking at cholesterol levels. It will also show the amount of inflammation generally present in the body.

The original site will remain as an archive until the end of June, 2019.

It’s a Cat’s World with Molly DeVoss and ‘Cat Talk Radio’
We’re cat lovers and several months ago, after adopting a cat with some behavior issues, I was connected to Molly DeVoss, of Cat Behavior Solutions. Her advice was essential in resolving the problems, and today we have two great girls, Wilma and Peanut, who brighten our lives and each other’s. Molly knows her stuff!
Molly and co-host Dewey now offer a regular podcast/radio show on all things cat. If you’re a cat person, and even if you’re not, the education you’ll get from Molly and her guests is unbeatable. Tune in sometime, and fasten your headphones!
Cat Talk Radio is all about cats, what makes them do what they do, why they occasionally misbehave and what cat guardians can do to fix it. We educate you on how to modify unwanted cat behavior by providing the proper environment and stimulation, enabling cats to express their natural behaviors in ways that are preferable for both the humans and cats. You will learn how to have fun with your cat, fascinating cat facts and be inspired to try new things, which will lead to a happier relationship and closer bond with your cat. We’ll also call attention to the plight of cats in our country, feel compassion for their challenges and share the message. Cat Talk Radio is broadcast live every Friday at 2 PM Pacific Time/4 PM Central Time/5 PM Eastern Time on the VoiceAmerica Variety Channel.

‘Black Cat White Paws’ Audiobook to Be Read by Holly Palance
I couldn’t be happier to announce that Holly Palance will be reading the audiobook version of Black Cat White Paws: A Maggie Dahl Mystery. This first in a new series has been out just three weeks and has 16 consecutive 5-star ratings. I have high hopes for Maggie Dahl, and I couldn’t imagine anyone better than Holly to voice the book. And she works quickly! Expect to hear her terrific reading sometime in August.
I’ll have 15 free download codes for email subscribers! Look for an announcement on the audiobook’s release.
About Holly Palance (HollyPalance.com):
Born into an acting family where breakfast table monologues, musical numbers and one arm pushups were normal (!), Holly left to train at the Webber-Douglas Academy in London spending eight years trodding the boards playing starring roles in productions of Shakespeare, Tennessee Williams, LeRoi Jones and Brecht at top regional theatres and London’s West End and appeared in multiple ITV/BBC productions …
… As a journalist, Holly was twice nominated by the WPA for her Buzz magazine column on Hollywood, “The Hills” (USA Today raved: “Palance is one of the funniest writers in the business”). She was editor-in-chief at Santa Barbara Magazine, (under her leadership it won the WPA Award for Best City Magazine), and editor-in-chief of the Los Angeles Times lifestyle publication, Distinction. She is a HuffPo contributor.
Holly has studied with two outstanding audiobook coaches—Audie Award Winner PJ Ochlan and Audible Hall of Famer Scott Brick – and is currently working on her first novel.
