Creature from the Blog Lagoon – It’s Back! Mark McNease On Topic Substack and More

I’ll be blogging here again, after a few years of not putting much up at Mark McNease. com. My LGBTSr website was corrupted and is down and not coming back (some things just aren’t worth the hassle), and my weekly Substack, Mark McNease On Topic (hey tree house mates!) is going well after two years. I still want to post about our travels and our lives, politics, whimsies and more, so here we are! Stay tuned for weekly posts about … whatever! Let’s start out with my most recent Substack, which I’ll add here every Monday as well. – Mark

A whimsical welcome

Before the child in all of us has beeen snuffed out by the corporal punishment that is the Trump regime … welcome and thank you to the new subscribers! Marit – I’m lookin’ at you.

My new reading glasses

And check out that leather coat! If I’m going out, I’m going out in style.

There’s not much from the Tree House this week, I’m exhausted. And that shitshow with Trump, Vance, and the only hero in the room, Zelenskyy, was draining.

Whenever you’re lost, look for the sparklers

Behold the powers of the make-believe: all we have to do is say it’s so!

RED ALERT! RED ALERT!

‘Collapse’: Trump Official Blasted As He Moves To ‘Demolish’ Social Security Administration

As predictable as this was for a Republican Party that’s been determined to destroy Social Security since it’s founding, it is still shocking to see it happening. Tens of millions of seniors and others rely on Social Security and will almost certainly see disruptions in benefits, if not outright deductions. Never say we weren’t warned.

Wake up MAGA I think I got somethin’ to say to you,
it’s early March and they’re about to take you all for fools.
All they did was cheat us all,
kill Social Security by the fall,
MAGA I wished we’d never seen your faaaaace …

More from the shitstorm …

Podcast Nation: Trump appoints another raging far-right podcaster to a position for which he has no qualifications. Dan “Anger Sells” Bongino, best known for a perpetually exploding head, has been appointed Deputy Director of the FBI. I think it’s time to adjust our sets now, we’re in the Twilight Zone.

MSNBC cleared out its non-white hosts, making room for pasty court jesters sure to keep the King amused. Rachel Maddow wasn’t laughing.

And super-pro-life Alabama allowed dead prisoners’ organs to be harvested because ghouls gonna ghoul (praise the Lord and pass the pancreas).

Tens of thousands will die

And the MAGA Christians won’t care. They’re not white, they’re not American, and Jesus is at the range with his AR15. To them the only good “insert non-White MAGA Christian whatever here” is a dead one. Karma, and Real Jesus—the woke one who embraced the people we are about to kill—will have something extremely harsh to say about all this. Expect global catasrophe and the rage of the powerless.

WORKSHOP NEWS / BURGEONING EMPIRE UPDATES

I’ve been hired to do a 2 hour fiction writing workshop at the Bristol, PA, library in May. That’s three (3!) library workshop for the month, ca-ching! But more importantly, I love doing these.

And here’s one more fresh testimonial from my autobiographical intro workshop:

As someone who isn’t a writer, I was a bit nervous about attending this workshop. I needn’t have been, because the relaxed and convivial tone Mark set had me feeling like I was at a retreat rather than a classroom. He employed thought-provoking prompts which stirred something within me, and I not only did some writing but I thoroughly enjoyed the process. I’d happily recommend his workshops to anyone looking for an out-of-the-box way to connect with themselves or others.” – Randi S.

Clinton Library writers group

Last Wednesday’s monthly gathering of the writers group I facilitate at the Clinton, NJ, library. There is still joy to be found in this profoundly disturbing time.

Wait, there’s more!

I was asked to facilitate a journaling group for New Hope Celebrates, a LGBTQ organization in New Hope, PA. The first meeting is March 12 and I am especially excited about this one. It’s for family, as we sometimes call ourselves, and it will be a good, safe space for LGBTQ people to explore our lives in journaling at a time when our government would much prefer we fade away in silence. We have legacies, too.

Today’s parting shot …
